Friday Fun Day at Camp Smith

We had our last breakfast at Hollis Renewal Center this morning.  We packed up and then headed to Camp Smith!  Just before we left our Meadow Cottage, we prayed for the next group that will use the building.  We hope they have as rewarding time there as we did.

A big thank you to Gavin, Melanie & Anna for coming out to help bring things back home.  The SUV will hold all the bodies but not all our bags and supplies.  (We might have had a few too many snacks for the week.)

Another big thank you to Bruce and Barbara Smith for opening Camp Smith to us.  We spent time on the lake, return to the house for burgers on the grill, and then one last time on the lake for some of us and a nap for others.

Before pictures from the day, here are a few final thoughts from some of the team.

Although we couldn’t make it out of the area this year, I really enjoyed our mission trip this year. It was a week full of worship, giving, reflecting and of course foosball-ing. I’m forever grateful for our time together and looking forward to next year’s trip.  - Kate

Wow, how did the week go by so fast?! As always, this week was so rewarding and empowering. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to take a whole week dedicated to building and renewing our faith together through working in our community and the time we spend together. We try to make an impact within our community but it also makes an impact on us as well, teaching us valuable lessons. I always look forward to this week every year and I am never disappointed, I can’t remember the last time I’ve laughed as hard as I did this week! Our group sure knows how to have fun and laugh, and to make work fun too (who knew sorting marker parts for two hours could be so hilarious and competitive??? hahaha). Thank you to everyone in our group on the trip who let me nap peacefully before dinner everyday (and in the car too), those naps really kept me going I appreciate it. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who prayed and supported us this year on our trip!!!! and for following the blog!!! And I’d just like to say a final thank you to everyone who also supported our amateur foosball careers… next year I’m getting us jerseys WE ARE GOING PRO!! #FoosballTeamMolly&Connor4ever - Molly

It is going to seem strange to wake up tomorrow without this wonderful group of people around me.  Who is going to fix me breakfast?  :-)  Each mission trip is unique - the people in our group, the people we meet, the jobs we do, and where we go.  There are some constants - we grow closer to each other, we learn a bit more about what we can do, and we gain a greater understanding of God's lover for all his people.

Matthew 5:16 -  Let your light shine before men, that. they may see your good works, and. ... that they may see your good works, and. glorify your Father who is in heaven.  We aren't called to let our light shine when we feel like it - we are to let our light shine all the time.  The team did a great job of living this scripture this week.  Thank you to Gene, Stacy, Melanie, Caleb, Howard, Connor, Molly, and Kate.  You made this a very special week and you touched a lot of lives. - Barbara

Enjoying the lake with Captain Bruce.

We anchored for a quick swim - Kate braves the open water
